All banks can receive a free canary report based on the bank's quarterly call report. Olson Research uses a bank's publicly available call report and benchmarks the bank's ratios to all other banks. The report flags the ratios which fall outside of the regulatory preference; and displays the high, low and mean along with the number of banks outside of the regulatory preference. Bank certificate number and free registration required to access report.

About the Peer Information

All commercial US banks that file a call report are modeled using Olson Research's A/L Benchmarks Asset/Liability Management model.  This peer sample includes data from banks representing all 50 states, D.C., and other areas. Some banks may be eliminated due to reporting errors or anomalies.

The primary source of data is the call report as it is made publicly available by the FDIC.  A/L Benchmarks also uses the FRY-9, security investment downloads, supplemental data supplied by bank management, and modeling assumptions.

Assumptions are based upon historical bank data, industry norms, and supplemental information supplied by bankers.

It is our policy at Olson Research Associates, Inc. not to identify any banks by name or certificate numbers.  This data is made available for comparative purposes only.

Communicator Archives

The Communicator was our periodic newsletter used to highlight product features or industry issues for our clients of A/L Benchmarks.

As more of our clients began using email and the Internet, we discontinued this publication because our website offered us the opportunity to get the same information out to our clients in a more efficient manner.

However, since many of the issues addressed in the Communicator are still relevant today, we archived each issue to make them available online.  Often it is an old issue of the Communicator that answers a current question.
